First week of classes... DONE

Well, first week of classes is done. I have a feeling this will be my hardest semester yet >.<
I stupidly waited to do some of my harder Gen. Ed. classes until the sort of last minute... and am definitely going to feel the stress. However, even though they seem like a lot of work (and lets face it, BORING) I think I'll be able to manage with some extra focus.

Other than my classes, its definitely good to see all my friends who I've missed this summer. I love being able to walk across campus and wave to new and old friends (something I definitely missed while working on campus this summer). Seeing all the freshman from Orientation getting comfortable with college life is wonderful, and even though I was a Parent & Family Orientation Leader some of the students remember me!! Definitely makes being an OL worthwhile.

Now to this outfit!! One of my bosses texted me late Sunday night basically saying there was a 70% Ann Taylor sale and it ends at midnight and then she proceeded to text me screenshots of how they were basically giving clothes away. I could not resist!!
I perused the website and literally just kept adding more and more cute finds to my cart. Before I knew it I had well over $150 in my cart.... then I thought, 'What the heck Clare!!?? I thought it was supposed to be a huge sale!!'. But then I saw the promo code I had yet to add to my cart... which dropped the price to under $50!! I got a lot of very nice quality garments, one of which is this fabulous skirt!

I love gems, I love linen, I love skirts.... its basically perfect.

Halfway through college!!

Well, it is official. I am now a junior in college and halfway to graduation! Although I am excited about getting closer and closer to post-grad life, I'm sad to think that I have so little time left at Marymount. In the past two years I have done so much and met so many people at this school, I honestly cannot imagine what I will have succeeded in by the time May of 2016 rolls around.
But any who, being it the first day of school I wanted to look extra fabulous for the day. I went shopping yesterday because obviously there are A TON of back-to-school deals happening right now... and who could pass that up?? Not this girl!
The DC Metro just started up the Silver line and its probably the best thing for my wardrobe... and worst thing for my bank account. I'm loving the new Tyson's Corner metro station, they have a skywalk and everything! Getting to Tyson's will be a breeze from here on out. However, I went shopping with a budget (something I highly suggest college students do for themselves, before they splurge every weekend and end up with no money to eat at Chipotle with friends #beenthere).
When shopping I stopped in New York & Co. and got three dress pants and this fab skirt, they're deals were crazy! I walked past Old Navy and saw the mannequin wearing these shoes... and well since they had my size, the rest is history (on sale too!). I stopped at a few other stores as well, but you'll all see them very soon on the blog.
Let the school year begin!

Fall is coming, and boy am I ready

Can you feel it?? The breezes are coming more frequently and the nights are getting chillier.... AKA fall is coming! My second favorite time of year (next to winter, of course) is autumn.

I love the changing leaves that everyone takes pictures of, the cold winds blowing my hair everywhere, the layers on layers you can wear everyday, even those people that get pumpkin spice flavored everything! I think it's a wonderful time in general :) But we have a few more weeks before its fully fall, so for now I will just wear autumn-inspired outfits.
You've all seen this vest before, obviously it is J. Crew and it is wonderful... look at all the pockets!
My blouse, bracelet, and jeans are consignment store finds, totally a whooping $12 together.
The bag has been a favorite of mine, its from JustFab.com and it is pretty fab! Honestly I signed up for the website because it has 'fab' in the title, and I'm pretty much drawn to that word... But anyways the shoes are good quality for a season or two worth of wearing, and relatively inexpensive. Along with shoes, they sell accessories like this bag. It is HUGE on the inside and has many times held 5-6 textbooks and my laptop for my classes. Plus, it's cute! My sandals are from Target, and also really comfortable. They will be a good transition to my fall wardrobe.

My necklace is another 'Eva original'. I made it a few years back and was inspired by my Grandmother. She used to have a necklace with a clock on it. I'm not sure if it was because she didn't like watches, or figured it was stylish. Personally, I think its quite fabulous! What do you think??

Mixing Patterns

Some people are afraid to mix prints or patterns... I don't know why though! To me, it's just another way to pretty much guarantee that you'll be the only one wearing that outfit. I tried tucking in my top to my skirt, but it just didn't look right... so I tried the belt and liked the way it accentuated my waist and brought the yellow in the skirt out.
I have no idea where my top is from to be honest, it was a Salvation Army find in the spring ($4!).  If you're willing to do some searching, the Salvation Army, Good Will, and consignment shops have some pretty awesome things for very little money... so take some time to look through those cluttered racks! The skirt is from Forever 21, but since I bought it in the winter it was super cheap. Style tip #2: Always try and buy out-of-season clothes and accessories, they're usually discounted and most styles will continue to the next years season anyways.
This necklace is one of my creations! Bib necklaces are so fun (especially under a collared shirt), and come in SO many different styles. I was on a huge jewelry-making kick in high school (which would still be happening if my jewelry supplies didn't way a gajillion pounds), and as a result I made a bunch of different types of jewelry. *Stay tuned, because obvi I wear it all*
This bag is everything... and it matches everything... so naturally I will be using it all the time, heads up friends.
My sandals are actually another good find! And by that I mean a college friend didn't want them anymore so I got them... AKA freeee shoes! The yellow is sometimes hard to match but since it's my favorite color, I make it work.
Also, I dyed my hair last night (props to Terri!) and actually really like the black a lot... what do you think?! *hair flip*

WIWW: What I Wore Wednesday

Today it actually felt like August and was super hot outside, but that's perfect for this J. Crew skirt I got earlier last month! I love that it is white with navy blue patterns on the bottom... mostly because those are Marymount's colors #checkoutmyschoolspirit. But the skirt also matches easily with a lot of my blouses and tops; like this gray T-shirt I got from H&M.

I figured I'd throw on this STATEMENT necklace too, which the way I wore it today was actually the back of the necklace. The other side is teal with a black snake-skin pattern on it... which is cute, just not with this outfit. So, my first style tip: For necklaces that are flat like this one, try turning it around, it could add a whole new flare to your outfit or the necklace itself. But for this particular necklace... turns out it's super reflective... and it was super sunny outside... so basically I was blind for a little bit. Nonetheless, I paired the necklace with some of my silver midi-rings and stud earrings.
Now this bag, I am in LOVE!! I got it Monday from Target (so it's totally affordable) and wasn't sure if I wanted it... but I am so glad I bought it. It has a middle zipper section that fits my laptop perfectly, the other two sections have a zipper pocket, and a cell-phone pocket. I just have a thing for tote bags, especially now in college... totes are so much more stylish than backpacks!
