From Farm to Fab: Statement necklace

WIWW

This morning I gave a campus tour to 30~ high school seniors from Baltimore who are looking into attending Marymount. Since it was through their high school, some of the kids weren't all that interested in MU at first... but I think after the tour they enjoyed themselves here. I was even lucky enough to have some students who were interested in the Fashion program!!

*AKA time for me to ramble on about how fabulous the department is, and the fashion shows we put on and go to, and how the fashion majors dress on campus, and how fashion club is the biggest club on campus.... see? Theres a lot to ramble on about!*

Since during tours the Ambassadors have to wear a Marymount polo, (of which I have like... 7) I obviously changed into something more fabulous. This is what I came up with :-)

As you guys have seen, I own a lot of jewelry... like a lot, A LOT. And I consider my accessories my babies... so sometimes when I don't wear something after a while I feel bad. I know I'm weird, but I'm definitely not the only one! Right, ladies? So since I hadn't worn this necklace in a minute, I styled the look around it.

This skirt was one of my Ann Taylor 70% finds ($13!) and this top was a thrift store find ($3!). My necklace was one of my Grandmothers and I always found it so Western and beautiful. Matching earrings and an Eva original bracelet... I'm ready to be fab for the rest of the day!

WIWW: What I Wore Wednesday

Today it actually felt like August and was super hot outside, but that's perfect for this J. Crew skirt I got earlier last month! I love that it is white with navy blue patterns on the bottom... mostly because those are Marymount's colors #checkoutmyschoolspirit. But the skirt also matches easily with a lot of my blouses and tops; like this gray T-shirt I got from H&M.

I figured I'd throw on this STATEMENT necklace too, which the way I wore it today was actually the back of the necklace. The other side is teal with a black snake-skin pattern on it... which is cute, just not with this outfit. So, my first style tip: For necklaces that are flat like this one, try turning it around, it could add a whole new flare to your outfit or the necklace itself. But for this particular necklace... turns out it's super reflective... and it was super sunny outside... so basically I was blind for a little bit. Nonetheless, I paired the necklace with some of my silver midi-rings and stud earrings.

Now this bag, I am in LOVE!! I got it Monday from Target (so it's totally affordable) and wasn't sure if I wanted it... but I am so glad I bought it. It has a middle zipper section that fits my laptop perfectly, the other two sections have a zipper pocket, and a cell-phone pocket. I just have a thing for tote bags, especially now in college... totes are so much more stylish than backpacks!
